Crab Meat Salad

Crab meat salad can be made in 100’s of different ways. I often use tinned crab meat for this recipe and it works fine. Here, I have used a thousand Island type of dressing, but you can use any dressing of choice. You can simply mix it with lemon juice, salt and pepper. You can vary amounts of different ingredients to suit your taste. This version is very good as a sandwich filling.

Ingredients

  • Basic salad

  • 250 gm. prepared crab meat, tinned or fresh

  • Dressing

  • 2-3 tbsp. Mayonnaise

  • 2 tbsp. tomato ketchup (optional)

  • 2 tsp. chilli sauce of choice or 1 fresh red chilli, finely chopped

  • 1 tbsp. whole grain mustard (optional)

  • Optional additions You can add one or more of these:

  • 2 Celery sticks, finely chopped

  • 1/2 red onion, finely sliced

  • 1 tbsp. chopped chives

  • 1 tbsp. Chopped dill or coriander leaves

  • 1 tsp. fish sauce or Soya sauce

  • 1 tbsp. finely chopped tomatoes

  • 1 tsp. finely chopped ginger

  • Serve as a sandwich filling or on top of lettuce leaves or spooned over avocado halves or as a Taco filling.

Instructions

  1. Place all dressing ingredients in a bowl and mix.

  2. Add crab meat and fold it in.

  3. Adjust seasoning.

  4. Serve with salad or as a sandwich filling.
