Quorn or Gluten or Soya Bites in Asafoetida Rich Sauce

This easy dish is based on a Chicken recipe by Lekh Ram Gupta of Himanchal Pradesh in India. You can also make it with Gluten or Soya chunks or evenPaneer - Mamta.

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 500 kg. bite sized Quorn or gluten or Paneer pieces

  • 1/4 tsp. or 3 pinches of asafoetida or hing powder

  • Juice of one large lemon/lime

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 level tsp. black pepper

  • 1 tsp. Curry Powder or Chat Masala. If you do not have these, use 1 tsp. Garam Masala plus 1/2 tsp. hot chilli powder.

  • 2-3 tbsp. oil

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Leave to marinate for an hour or two or overnight in a fridge, in an airtight container.

  2. Heat oil in a wok.

  3. Add marinated Quorn/Paneer chunks and stir-fry until all the liquid is absorbed and pieces are separate.

  4. Serve hot with drinks, with tooth picks to eat it with. Or serve on a bed of lettuce as a starter.
