Garlic Bread
Steve Lister
Slices of a fresh, crisp bread loaf or a baguette can be easily made into a delicious garlic bread with very little effort. It is excellent as a side dish with soups, salad and many other meals. Serves 2
A baguette is about a foot or more long, thin, crisp loaf of bread from France. It has to be eaten on the same day, or it is no good.
Ingredients

100 gm. Margarine (made from olive oil or softened butter
1-2 cloves of garlic, peeled and pureed
1/4 tsp. Celery salt
1/4 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
A sprinkle of salt
A good sprinkle of black pepper
1 tbsp. grated Parmesan or Mozzarella cheese
Instructions
Slice baguette lengthways
Make a mix of all other ingredients, except Parmesan/Mozzarella cheese, to make a paste.
Spread thickly on bread.
Sprinkle cheese on top.
Grill or cook in a hot oven until the butter melts and the top begins to brown.
Serve hot.
Notes
You can make garlic bread with a paste made of butter and pureed garlic alone.
Experiment with other herbs and flavours.
