This tasty fresh chutney recipe comes from my sister in-law Sunita Gupta's mother. If you like garlic, you will love it. It is very easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 50 gm. garlic cloves, peeled and chopped

  • 50 gm. chiraunji or cudpah nuts or Buchanania latifolia (although these nuts are easily available from Indian grocers, you can use other nuts like chopped cashew here)

  • 50 gm. raisins

  • 50 gm. dry dates (buy from Indian grocers), sliced thinly

  • 50 gm. chilli powder

  • 100 gm. mango powder or amchoor

  • 100 gm. ginger, peeled and shredded or coarsely grated

  • 50 gm. salt (adjust to taste later)

  • 50 gm. sugar

  • Enough malt vinegar to make a paste

Instructions

  1. Place everything in a bowl and mix well.

  2. Bottle, label and keep on a sunny window sill for a week or two.

  3. It is now ready to eat.
