Bread gives the yoghurt an interesting texture, like ‘Dahi Vada’. It is very easy to make. Serves 4-6

You can use ready made bread croutons for this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups natural yoghurt or dahi

  • 2 slices of white bread, toasted

  • 1 green chilli-finely chopped (optional

  • 1/2 tsp. salt, adjust to taste (black rock salt is good, buy from Indian grocers)

  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp. coarsely ground, roast cumin seeds (dry roast in microwave or in a wok or frying pan and then coarsely grind in a mortar or grinder)

Instructions

  1. Slice bread into approximately 1 cm. squares. Keep aside until nearly time to serve.

  2. Beat yoghurt, salt, black pepper and roast cumin together.

  3. Add green chillies and mix well. Adjust salt.

  4. Add bread pieces to yoghurt just before serving, mix gently.

  5. Serve chilled.

Notes

  • You can garnish it with a sprinkle of 1/4 tsp. each of roast cumin powder and chilli powder.

  • You can add coriander leaves to the yoghurt to change the flavour.
