Kai Lan or Broccoli Tops, Stir Fried

Stir Fried Kai Lan

This is an easy way of cooking vegetables Chinese style. You can fry many other vegetables like, spinach, iceberg lettuce, green beans, asparagus etc. in the same way. They must not be overcooked, the crispness being the key to this simple yet tasty dish. Kai Lan is a vegetable similar to broccoli tops, which can substitute it, if you can?t find Kai Lan.

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 350 gm bunch of kai lan or broccoli tops, washed and drained

  • 1 tbs. cooking oil

  • 2 cloves of garlic, peeled and finely chopped

  • A large pinch of salt

  • A few small dollops of Oyster Sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a wok.

  2. Add garlic, salt and stir fry, until it is just beginning to turn light brown.

  3. Add vegetables, stir, cover and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring a few times.

  4. Take out in a serving dish and dot a few drops of Oyster sauce on top.

  5. Serve hot, with other main meal dishes and rice.
