Mint raita made from fresh mint leaves is a refreshing side dish with any Indian meal. It is nice on it's own as well as with cheese and savoury crackers/biscuits.

You can add a small amount of finely chopped red onions to it.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh, natural yoghurt or dahi

  • A small bunch of fresh mint leaves. Amount depends on how minty you like it. I use approximately 1 full tbsp. chopped leaves.

  • 1/4 tsp. cumin seeds, dry roasted and coarsely ground

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 small green chilli, finely chopped or 1/4 tsp. chilli powder/black pepper

Instructions

  1. Beat yoghurt lightly.

  2. Chop mint leaves and green chilli finely.

  3. Add all ingredients and fold them in well.

  4. Adjust seasoning to taste.

  5. Serve chilled with an Indian meal.

Notes

  • You can add finely chopped red onions/cucumbers/green chillies.

  • Also see Raita Selection.

  • If fresh mint is not available, you can make this raita with mint sauce or ground, bottled mint.
