Note from Mamta: In India, people add various spices to tea to make it taste better and to give it medicinal properties. They differ from family to family and state to state. This Gujarati recipe is from my friend Devi Patel.

Ingredients

  • 250 gm. dry ginger powder

  • 125 gm. black or white pepper powder (reduce to make it milder)

  • Seeds of 5-6 green cardamoms

  • A little freshly grated nutmeg.

Instructions

  1. Grind all these ingredients together and sieve to remove and husks.

  2. Store in air tight jars.

  3. Add 1 tsp. to the water while boiling or add it to the teapot when brewing tea.

  4. Also see Also see Basil tea, Cardamom tea, Spiced tea and Ginger tea.

Notes

  • Spiced tea is good for relieving cold symptoms.
