Spinach Raita (Yoghurt)

A simple raita to make, it is quite refreshing in summer.

Serves 3-4

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Yoghurt or dahi
  • 1/2 cup spinach leaves, boiled and mashed roughly. Do not make a paste, leafy texture looks and tastes better
  • 1 tsp. roasted cumin seeds (jeera), coarsely ground
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp. or less red chilli powder, adjust to taste
  • You can add 1-2 chopped green chillies. If you do, reduce red chillies

Instructions

  1. Beat the yoghurt with a fork.
  2. Add all other ingredients and mix well. If it is too thick add a little milk and mix it again.
  3. You can garnish it with a sprinkling of chilli powder and ground roast cumin seeds.
  4. Serve with an Indian meal.
