Barbecue Sauce - A Quick Marinade Made From Ready Made Sauces

Mamta Gupta

Easy Fish Meat Seafood Side Starter

This is an almost instant BBQ sauce. If you think about it, all these sauces that I have listed below, have been made by big companies, after a huge amount of research/experimentation and they are all popular for their individual flavours. So why not mix them to get an even more intense flavour?

This marinating sauce can be used with meat/poultry/seafood and even vegetables. It can also be added to stir-fried rice.

Enough for 2-4 single portions.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 single servings/portions of fish/chicken/meat/prawns/vegetable portions
  • For the marinade:
  • 1 tsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. Soya sauce
  • 1 tsp. Maggi/other seasoning sauce
  • 1 tbsp. English/American/French made mustard paste of choice
  • 1 tsp. chilli/Tabasco sauce or any chilli sauce of choice, adjust amount to your taste
  • A sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper
  • A sprinkle of chilli flakes (optional)
  • You can add a little garlic salt or crushed garlic too.

Instructions

  1. Mix all sauce ingredients in a mixing bowl. Check if it tastes good. Adjust to taste by adding more of whatever you need.
  2. Add fish/meat/chicken/vegetable pieces and mix well so that all the pieces are coated. Leave for a few hours.
  3. Cook on a barbecue or under a hot grill or in an oven (450°F or 225°C) or in a frying pan, turning once or twice until done on all sides.
  4. Serve with a selection of boiled vegetables/roast or jacket potatoes/rice/salad or as part of a buffet.
