Guacamole (Avocado Dip)

Side Starter Vegetarian

It is a very quick dip to make and can be served with any type of bread, crisps, tacos etc.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/2 red onion, chopped
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tbsp. jalapeno peppers in brine/vinegar
  • 1 medium tomato
  • Juice of 1/2 a lemon/lime
  • 1 tbsp. virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste (not too salty)
  • 1 tbsp. green coriander leaves or cilantro, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp. sour cream or creamy yoghurt

Instructions

  1. Place avocado, onions, jalapeno, olive oil and lime juice in a blender and puree.
  2. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  3. Add and mix cream/yoghurt.
  4. Chill in fridge. Serve with tacos or pitta bread, toasted slices of bread etc.

Notes

  • You can also make it by adding very finely chopped onion, tomato, coriander leaves, pepper, chillies to crushed garlic, mashed avocado, and remaining ingredients
