Green Beans and Paneer (Indian Cheese) Dry Curry
Sem aur Paneer ki Sabji (Bhaji)
Note from Mamta: This mild dish is an invention of my elder sister Abha, it is easy to make and quite delicious. You can use other green beans.
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 250 gm. green beans of any type, topped, tailed, de-stringed and very finely sliced
- 100 gm. Paneer, crumbled
- 100 gm. (1 medium) onion, peeled and finely chopped
- 2 tsp. oil
- 1/2 tsp. cumin seeds or jeera
- A pinch of asafoetida or hing
- 1 tsp. coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp. coarsely ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. salt, adjust to taste
- 1/4 tsp. garam masala
Instructions
- Steam beans in microwave, on full, for 4-5 minutes. You can steam them on stove. They should remain crunchy and not become soft.
- Heat oil in a wok or karahi. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida.
- When the seeds crackle, add onion and fry until soft, but not brown.
- Add all other ingredients, except paneer and garam masala. Stir fry for 2-4 minutes.
- Add paneer and garam masala and stir it in.
- Serve hot with Paratha, Plain or as part of an Indian meal.
