Cucumber, Onion and Garlic Raita (Yoghurt)

This recipe was sent by one of the readers of this site - Mamta.

Serves 4.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups natural yoghurt or dahi
  • 1 cup cucumber, peeled and chopped into small pieces/cubes
  • 1 small red onion, peeled and chopped into small pieces
  • 2 tbsp. Patak's or home made Garlic Pickle, crushed
  • 1 tbsp. fresh mint leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli-finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. salt, adjust to taste (check after adding Patak’s paste)
  • 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper.

Instructions

  1. To make, beat yoghurt, garlic pickle, salt, black pepper together.
  2. Add cucumber, onion, half of the mint leaves, green chillies and mix well.
  3. Adjust salt to taste.
  4. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with remaining mint leaves. Serve chilled.

Notes

  • If you don't have Patak's garlic pickle, try using a little grated/ground garlic. It is different but still very nice!
