Apple And Carrot Salad

This is another easy and tasty salad to make quickly. It is very refreshing as a side salad with any type of meal, whether Indian or not. Amounts are approximate.

Serves 4


  • 2 apples of choice
  • A couple of carrots
  • 1/2 lemon
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 fresh green chilli finely chopped, 1/4 tsp. pan roasted and coarsest ground cumin seeds


  1. Wash, peel core and coarsely grate apples.
  2. Grate about 1/2 tsp. Lemon rind on top.
  3. Squeeze juice of the lemon and mix with apples. This will stop discolouration.
  4. Wash, peel and coarsely grate carrots. Add to apples.
  5. If using green chillies, add here, along with salt, pepper, roasted and ground cumin. Mix well.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  7. Serve with any meal of choice,
