Christmas comes earlier each year! Shops are full of shoppers looking for gifts for their loved ones. Music is piped endlessly. There are parties everywhere, Office parties are in full swing. How about you having an Indian themed Christmas day meal this year? Our menu suggestion will change on 22nd December, giving you some ideas. Helping Charities by Cooking Curry

October 7th, 2013

Kavey has been invited to spread the word about two fantastic charities this year, Find your Feet and ABF The Soldiers' Charity.

Both have called on the public to raise funds by hosting curry nights for their friends and family.

We have shared some Mamta's Kitchen suggestions for planning menus and created pages for each charity. View the menu planning tips pages for Find Your Feet or ABF The Soldiers' Charity Big Curry and get involved too!

Lovely summer!

August 13th, 2013

Keep in touch with the cooking news on our Facebook page.

It has been a wonderful summer. The gardens have generally done well, as long as they have been watered now and then. I can't remember the last time it was this warm continuously. I hope you are enjoying the produce from your gardens and having a lovely time in your kitchens. Keep cooking!

Summer

Summer seems like a bit of hit and miss this year! However, we have had a few warm days. Local summer produce is appearing in the shops, make the most of it while it lasts. Have a good summer!

Spring 2013

March 22nd, 2013

Spring is officially here. Crocuses are beginning to flower, primroses are in dull swing. Birds are beginning to get active, dawn chorus is starting each morning. This is the start of new life, bringing new foods with it. It is time to get working in the garden, if you haven't already. It is too cold for me outside still, but I am getting started with seeds and things. Cooking with seasonal food is great, keep an eye out for spring foods. Some of the things to keep a look out for in spring are;

Purple Sprouting Broccoli, Spring Cabbage, Carrots, Wild Garlic, Leeks, Jersey Royal Potatoes, Spinach, Asparagus, Watercress, Spring Lamb, Lobster, Mackerel, Mussels, Sardines, Trout, Crab, Wild Salmon, Dover Sole, Gurnard, Hake, Langoustine, Lemon Sole, Whitebait.
