Happy Diwali

November 2nd, 2015

Diwali or Deepawali, one of the biggest and most celebrated festivals in India, is just round the corner. To find out more about what Diwali is, click on 'Diwali or Deepawali' under 'Upcoming Festivals'.

Mamta and mamtaskitchen team would like to wish you all a wonderful Diwali with your family and friends.

Firecrackers cause a lot of injury and sometimes loss of life, so please do be very, very careful, especially around children, if you decide to have some.

Autumn on the way!

September 6th, 2015

Last few days have a chill in the air, especially in the morning. I hope you have all enjoyed the summer's bounty from your garden, as well as shops. It is time to dig up those last potatoes, bring in fruits and pick tomatoes, unless yours are in a greenhouse. Because of supermarkets supplying most produce all the year around, we don't often take notice of what is in season. Everything is in season somewhere and we get it nearly fresh, although there are huge air-miles attached to them. We hope that we help you to find recipes for whatever it is you are trying to cook. Enjoy food!

Summer is here!

July 12th, 2015

Are you cooking seasonal produce in your kitchens? Our gardens and shops are full of fresh, locally produced food at the moment. Barbecue and summer party season is in full swing. Why not find a food item that you like and then look for a recipe on this site. It can be a vegetable, fruit, seafood, meat, poultry, rice, bread, snack, main course. You can make a nice dessert like kulfi, ideal for a summer party. Just name the main ingredient in the search window, click on relevant boxes below it and check out the list of recipes that come up. Have a good summer!

Planting season!

May 15th, 2015

Nearly time to plant the summer vegetables out, things like tomatoes, courgettes, gourds. Some are already in and growing; runner beans, radishes, potatoes, spinach etc. I am not growing many this year. What are you growing? Come and chat on our forum; any success stories, new ideas, advise for others.

Good luck with you gardens. May you try many new dishes with your own produce.

Spring is here!

April 22nd, 2015

It has been beautiful, glorious weather during the last couple of weeks. Gardens are beginning to come alive in front of our eyes. Everyday, a new plant comes into bloom. I hope that some of you are growing a few vegetables/herbs/fruits in your garden. Feel free to share your kitchen garden news, successes and failures on our forum. Share your seasonal cooking and recipes too, give everyone new ideas!
