Mamta's Kitchen - A Family Cookbook

News

This is an archive of all the news posts that have appeared on this site over the years. Please bear in mind that some of this information is almost certainly now out of date!

October 1st, 2004

Welcome to the new incarnation of Mamta's Kitchen! We really hope you like it! As you can see, we've made some design changes, including a new logo (designed by Kavita) and we've reorganised some of the navigation to make it easier to find what you need and to move around the site. We've also made quite a number of changes behind the scenes to make Mamta's job of adding and editing recipes, festivals and news articles more straightforward.

Please let us know what you think of the new look and navigation via our discussion board where we're also seeking your input on future improvements. Thank you!

Thanks to our friend, John Arnold, for his help in rendering the logo design.

On another note, when you're looking for presents for birthdays, Christmas and other celebrations or just looking for a gift for yourself, please don't forget to consider buying one of Kavita's DSWF photographic prints, being sold to raise funds for wildlife conservation.

Pete & Kavita

September 3rd, 2004

Hi folks! It's Kavita here - Mamta's eldest daughter and website administrator. I'm going to ask your indulgence in bringing up something unrelated to cooking (or eating).

I'd like to invite you to view a series of photographic prints that I am selling to raise funds for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.

DSWF achieves real results in conservation by supporting trusted, reputable individuals and organisations operating in the field. Lean on administration, generous on funding, money raised makes a direct difference to the survival of wildlife around the world.

All prints included in this project show (DSWF) in the image title. The owners of the prints website have generously agreed to donate their share of profits too so 100% of profits from each print sold is going directly to the conservation of wildlife.

If you like any of the images please consider buying one for a home or office wall. Please also pass this information on to anyone you know who has an interest in animals, in conservation or simply in a source of artwork.

Many thanks, Kavita

Recipes of the week, Yoghurt Selection: Sweet Lassi, Mattha, Cultured Buttermilki, Charnamrit Drink, Fruit Yoghurt, Smoothies, Raita Selection.

Spring is here!

May 3rd, 2004

My daughter and son in-law have worked very hard in the recent weeks, to make several changes to the site. Most of the changes have been behind the scenes, to make it more user friendly. Thank you for being patient.

In UK, the spring is finally and truly here. Most of you must be busy in your gardens, with less time to spend in the kitchen. Soon it will be BBQ season. For many, it is already warm enough to eat outdoors. Here are some recipes for you to try:

Baked Fish1

Tandoori Chicken - 1

Barbecued Vegetables

Courgette and Aubergine Salad

Mixed Salad

Fruit Juice, Indian Style

Lassi 1, A Yoghurt Drink

Fresh Lime Drink

Barbecued Chocolate Banana

If you have any family favourite BBQ recipes, I would love to hear from you-Mamta

Recipe of the week: Kulfi Ice-cream

Broken Links

April 29th, 2004

As some of you noticed, some of the links within the recipes weren't working. We've just gone through and (we believe!) fixed them all, so everything should be back to normal again.

If you come across any links that aren't working, please let us know and we'll fix it right away!
