It was really nice to see all your wonderful recipes online on your portal.
Am a new mom to be and I travel very often because of my work schedule and I prefer by train?and for the same I want to carry some homemade food with me so that I don?t have to depend on railway food which I cant push through my food pipe lol?.
Can you please suggest me some of the recipes which I can carry while travelling and which will not spoil soon.
And to add on am a veggie and i love indian food..... :-)
Hello Namrata, congratulations on becoming a mum soon :-). I bet you can't wait!
I have no idea what food on Indian railways is like these days. It used to be atrocious, then got better, but still not quite suitable for a pregnant lady.
You sad you are vegetarian.
The simplest solution may be to cook a bit extra each evening and take some of that with you.
If you have cool box, for short journeys you can take fresh fruits/salads/pasta etc.
How about some fresh chapatties and a bhaji of choice, along with some fruit yoghurt or fresh fruit? Or Paratha rolls?
I wouldn't recommend rice, because if leave that out of the fridge too long, it can cause bacillus cereus infection.
What are your likes and dislikes? What did you take for pack lunches to school?
Love and best wishes.
Hope people on these boards help you out, they are a very knowledgeable lot.

i always like munching around..and love spicy stuff...but when its about food to carry during journey i need some recipe which will be fast and will not spoil during journey...is it true "not to add onions in order to save it from spoiling?" and can u please suggest me a quick lemon rice /temarind rice recipe or paratha rolls?
Kathi Rolls made from parathas. Or you can wrap up any dry bhaji in a paratha, make a roll and wrap it up in aluminium foil/cling plastic wrap.
How about Dal stuffed paratha or pooran poli, it comes from your part of India.
I am not too keen on tamarind rice. Here is a recipe, for what it is worth. You have to be careful with rice. If you leave it around at room temperature for long, it can give you a nasty stomach upset.
Onions should be fine, as long as they are not raw, because temperature where you are will make any fresh produce, including onions, wilt very quickly and perhaps even go off, depending upon how long your journey is. You will be better off carrying fresh fruits, rather than chopped. Cool coxes-bags are not expensive and will help you to keep your food safe.
