I got this product from ym local indian supermarket, its fascinating stuff, I cant figure out if its plant or seed? tastes like aniceed but strong, please someone put me out of my misery and explain!!

I think it is basically derived from the nutmeg tree; from which we get both the spices "nutmeg" and "mace"

I would need to be a botanist to advise but I think nutmeg is the kernel of the seed while mace surrounds the seed.

Can't stand the stuff myself except perhaps in an eggy dish like an omelette!
