lapis. i seem to remember a few weeks ago that you posted on the forum that you would be sharing one of your recipes. something to do with no onions and garlic and a braised dish. have i missed it or have you not posted it yet?

So the challenge was to find things that we could cook in parallel, but which were similar (so as not to make the vegetarian feel that he'd put us out too much). One of these is stuffed peppers in black bean sauce: the stuffing is minced pork with ginger, Chinese mushrooms, soy sauce and Chinese rice wine. For the veggie, I stuff them (the peppers not the vegetarians!) with rice and Chinese mushrooms. The black bean sauce is entirely meat-free.

I did couscous royale for us, and a separate meat-free couscous for my son-in-law, using vegetable stock, rather than chicken stock.

We had pork and aubergine with a Chinese sauce based on chicken stock and roasted, ground Szechuan peppercorns(apparently, these aren't really peppercorns at all). So I did aubergine and Chinese mushrooms for the son-in-law, again using vegetable stock.

For some reason, a vegetarian lunch is fine for us, but a meat-free dinner somehow isn't, so it's the dinners that make for extra work.

There are two excellent recipes for peas and paneer (mattar Paneer) on this site. A dish of broccoli and/or cauliflower pakoras is delicious and also irreproachably vegetarian. Or you could make a dal...
