Hello Dezzie

I know of ginger juice and honey mix for cough in Ayurveda, but I am not aware of turmeric use for this purpose

Hi Mamta,

You recently wrote:

Next time you have a cough, add some to warm milk, sweeten it with honey and drink it. If you have pains and aches, drink it in warm glass of milk. My mum and family in India swear by it. My nephew came to stay last night. His little son was coughing. So, the first thing he did was give him a little turmeric in warm milk. It is also a good anti-inflammatory.

Ah yes, thanks for reminding me Martin. You are absolutely right, it was his wife who reminded me about this recently, warm milk with turmeric soothes the throat/lungs, in fact most inflammations. They give it to their children when they have cough/sore throat etc. It is so strange, once someone reminds one of something, recollections come flooding back. So thank you for that. I had completely forgotten about it. My mum used to give it to us too, which is how my nephew must have learnt; from his father, my brother! More soaked and peeled almonds each morning to stimulate my brain I think; another one of my mothers ancient Ayurvedic practices!

Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory, so it must work for all sorts of inflammations.
