Does anyone know of a shop or supermarket in the West Midlands area where I can buy Thai Sweet Basil from? I've tried most of the major supermarkets in my area but they only do the standard Italian Basil. I can order on line but sometimes I may need it more urgently than that.

Thanks

Paul

Afraid I'm in London, but if you are near a 'chinatown' the larger oriental grocers invariably sell it.

I have had friends who actually grew it (including on window sills.) You can the seeds such as 'Siam Queen' from the main seed suppliers, Suttons, Thompson & Morgan etc.

Good luck in your search.

Most supermarkets tend not to stock the more diverse things like that as not many people would be buying them !

Thanks for your comments,

I found minced Thai Basil in a jar in Waitrose, the brand name is Thai Taste. It's not quite the same but comes a close second, handy to have in an emergency and keeps longer.

I'm fairly certian that you'll find it at Wing Yip (Birmingham or Manchester. In the long term why not grow your own? seeds are fairly easy to find and it's no harder than Italian basil to grow.
