As a South Indian , I m sad about I dont see south Indian(Kerala,Tamilnadu)recipes here. You can see in Kerala and Tamilnadu , there varieties of chicken, fish dishes. Cannot leave "Saambar""Rasam",(Veg-gravies for plain boiled rise.)

As this is a personal family cookbook the majority of recipes are from the region where mum grew up and most of her family are still located.

Where possible, when people have asked us to find specific recipes, mum has turned to wider family and also to many wonderful friends from different parts of India and they have kindly contributed recipes that we now share on the site.

However, and this is where we can call on YOU, our readers also contribute recipes regularly, especially where they can share a family recipe from a region we are not already covering, and we and our readers always enjoy it.

Good idea!! I love South Indian dishes. Whenever i land in Delhi i just attack the best south indian restaurant around.

Southern Indian is fab: all that coconut milk, and black mustard seeds!

I bought some frozen idli and some matta rice this afternoon from my S Indian shop in East London. The lovely man in the shop translated 'matta' as 'dirty rice', but we worked out he meant 'brown rice'. Very short grain, it doesn't look like brown rice, it looks rice risotto rice with brown dye added!!!!!! Shall have to investigate............

The few S Indian restaurants in London I have been to have all been very good.
