Nick I thought Mamta has said most curries work well in a slow cooker ? I've never used one, never even been near one to be honest so couldn't give you any advise on how best to set them up etc...

My guess would be actually start the curry in a pan, browning meat, onions, adding spices, adding stock/tomatoes etc.... and then transfer to the slow cooker and allow to cool... set the cooker to do the long slow simmer... (I'd also suggest using meat on the bone as I'm sure this will give a better result with the slow cooking)......

.... but I could be wrong and unfortunately Mamta is away from the PC at the moment and won't be able to view quite as often as normal...

Mamta -

For meats and chicken, I put all ingredients together, mix well and leave to marinate. Then just cook in slow cooker. When I get back, I will try to add a note to recipes that I cook in slow cooker. Rice pudding, dals, other vegetable curries should cook well too. You slightly reverse the process. Place ingredients in the slow cooker first, then do the 'tarka' with oil/onion/cumin/whole spices etc. on top.

Nick,

I most apologise as I thought it was you that had already posted this same question the other day ! - doh !

However it was James who had been asking more or less the same things... see this post - slow cooker for curries
