I know that this doesn't really pertain to Indian cookery, but I have noticed this year that a lot of the seedlings I started have popped up with three seed leaves instead of two. I've been assured that it doesn't effect the growth of the plants in anyway, but does anyone know why this has happened? I am not the only one to notice this as a few people I have spoken to about it have had the same thing happen.
Sid
if often happens when the seed has been awaken prematurely. This is usually because of temperature, but chemicals can do the same thing, especially the iodide ion.
Iodine from the Japanese Power plant has been detected in Glasgow, one can't rule out the possibility of it being a consequence of this.
Very interesting and thanks for the reply, Lapis. I will check them tonight and see if they glow in the dark :o) They are in a heated propagator so that may explain the premature aspect of what you said ? and they did germinate in six days, where it has taken the others over two weeks.
Thanks, Sid.
I hope we do not get mutated after consuming these veggies? ;)

Yes, yes you can actually.
Who knows... I have come to the belief over the years that the general public are like mushrooms ? fed on s**t and kept in the dark about most things. That's what the TELL-LIE-VISION is for :o)
I just went into the porch to check on the seedlings, and would you believe it, they are glowing green with a lovely hue of blue. I think I am on to something here. If I wake up in the morning with another ear growing in the middle of my chest I will drop the project like a hot egg.
If any Japanese people read this, then I would like to point out that I am just trying to make light about the fact that radiation has reached Glasgow in the UK. For those people who are directly affected by this then my thoughts really go out to you and your family(ies).
Sid
another,. ear growing from your chest, how many have you got there?
1st of April is well past and I have already claimed the title guys!LOL!!
NO! NO! NO! Mamta - you have the last laugh; I really was thinking of having a tattoo, but have currently succumbed to Dr. Gupta's better judgement. I did think it apt though to post my enquiries on April 1st.
