Hi ,

given the recipe in mamta's recipe site and others .. parboiled rice is given .. i used parboiled rice once but couldnt grind the rice well a, instead the the batter became thick and lumpy and the blender refused to grind unless more water was added .i stick to instant mixes now .. Deeps idli mix is excellent and gives soft spongy idli's but i would like to make the same idli from scratch . How and from which variety of parboiled rice .

where i reside only Uncle bens is available in parboiled rice .

thanks

Well, my recipe says parboiled or any other rice. In fact, I often use basmati rice or any small grain rice that I happen to have. It works just as well.
