I like this halwa very much and used to make a simple version with

pumpkin, sugar and ghee and a sprinkling of whatever around dry fruit but the recipe on this site is mouth watering.

I have a tin of coconut milk and thought perhaps I could use it here.

There is only one way to find out, try it! If it comes out well, and I don't see why it won't, do come back and let us know. Include any problems/adjustments/changes you had to make. You may need to reduce sugar as coconut milk can be rather sweet.
