I'm sorry to be so vulgar but my query concerns standard accompaniments for poppadoms thst you get in Brit/Anglo restaurants. If it is OK to ask this question on this forum please reply to my query below. If I'm a bit out of line then please forgive me.

My question is this:

Locally, I get three accompiniments to poppadoms when I order them in a restaurant. Can you tell me the recipe for each? They are: Lime Pickle, Onion Salad and a yellow yoghurty dip. Additionally I've read of a red coconut type dip.

Can you help?

Regards,

Martin

PS If you think this is not a 'forum' type question then please reply to me at nagabliss@gmail.com.

Thanks everyone.

Search for Lemon +pickle on this site, you will find many recipes. Different restaurants serve different pickles, so you will have to decide which one is closest. I think this might meet your needs; http://www.mamtaskitchen.com/recipe_display.php?id=13329

Lemon/lime pickles are easy to make and can be made using either limes or lemons.

Onion salad; http://www.mamtaskitchen.com/recipe_display.php?id=10536

Yellow, yoghurt dip can be many;

All these may be slightly different from what your particular restaurant serves, we all do things slightly differently. I don't very often make food like restaurants in any case, not my idea of food for everyday eating.

Hello Mamta,

Thanks for all your suggestion to my enquiry. I shall spend a very pleasurable half hour checking them out. My preference is for poppadoms made with black pepper and your Kachumbar Parsee Salad. My enquiry was to satisfy some guests with only restaurant or bottled sauce type curry experience.

Thanks again,

Martin

PS I haven't heard any news recently about your cookery classes. Do you still do them?

Hello Martin

I hope you find what your friends want.

Yes I still do cookery classes, whenever I am planning to raise some money for a charity. I need to have 3 people interested in learning same sort of things together, to make it worthwhile for us. I am quite happy to design the menu according to their need, if we have people wanting same things.

One of the problems is lack of time, both for Kavey and for myself; I have too many fingers in too many pies!!! Kavey is worse, always rushing around somewhere! So we do a course now and then. If you have friends interested, feel free to get in touch.

I was thinking of doing a class of making different Indian flat breads and Naans. This will probably suit people who already cook Indian food fairly well.
