Vale kum Sallam Zawaaj

I would not recomend taking any medication without proper medical (in this case Ayurvedic) supervision. It is quite a strong medicine, and can have adverse side effects and interactions with other drugs.

Many years ago, when I was first diagnosed to have hypertension and minutely raised cholestrol, I happened to visit the Ashram of one of the better known Ayurvedic physicians in Haridwar in India and was given Guggul. It made me feel really ill, I had headaches and diarrhoea etc. and felt very hot all the time. I stopped it very fast! So, if you are going to take it, don't take it on people's say so. Why not try the medicines that your doctor has suggested. After saying that, I have to admit that I have not yet found a statin or related drug, that does not give me a bucket full of side effects!

Hello rajneesh

It was not Ramdevji, but the Vaidyaji who ran the daily Ayurvedic clinics in his old Ahsram, I forget his name! this was long before they became rich and famous. they had a small ashram close to where my mum lives in Haridwar and we used to go around occasionally, on our way to my mum's or back, to learn a few Yoga excercises. We also used to visit his Vatika, where they used to grow herbs and things. When I went in February, this vatika looked quite neglected, I guess no one has time for it now! They now have a big hospital, Patanjali and I guess there medicinal herbs are supplied by someone else. It is a big business now. I have visited Patanjali a few times, very grand, with many resinetial flats etc., but we stop there only for a couple of hours, to just wonder around the grounds and have a vegetarian meal in their cafetaria. LOL!
