Amongst all the other recipes and information on this site there is also a massive list of sandwich fillings/styles/toppings that you may or may not have seen ! - Sandwich Selection

When you start to look down them you will notice many of them have no pictures to go with them ! If you are making any sandwiches and have a camera could you possibly post a couple of pics into the the site and they might be used (with your name against them if you would like !)

I've sent a couple but there is no way I'm going to make every single one of those just to take pictures of it... LOL

PS Don't forget if you make any of the other recipes on the site and are able to take some pictures of the finished product (and even better pictures of the stages) that would also be fantastic

thanks

Steve

No expert in food (or any other type of) photography but presume you need to seriously overfill the sandwich/roll otherwise you just get pictures of slabs of bread. LOL!

Think I might just be getting to a digital camera so standby Mamta for pictures of my lunch!!

Depends on the sort of sandwich and filling etc... with some I've found off setting the lid slightly shows enough of the filling !

Agree Steve!

Marmite essential with a good Cheddar cheese for a great sandwich!

Hi guys - just following on from this thread. We have vegemite in Australia instead of marmite. Its the same thing really BUT even though i grew up on marmite in England, vegemite is better. Anyway I digress. My 4 year old used to take vegemite and cheese sandwiches (white bread) to pre-school cut into nice little triangles. Now, the only way he will eat them is if they are wrapped in a paratha roll..i.e. cooked paratha with butter spread on top with vegemite spread on top and grated cheese and then roll the paratha into a sausage. Its very funny and very cute!

Long live Paratha!

Yes, kids,a working people all over northern India have parathas for their luch. they take little tiffins with paratha, a vegetable and often a piece of pickle. I have a chapatti roll recipe on this site Chapati Rolls.

I am adding your vegemite/marmaite ideas there, hope that is okay with you?

Does marmite cook well without changing?....

if so you could get an uncooked Paratha/chapati and spread it with marmite, scatter with cheese, roll it up tight then cut through in about 1cm sections, press them down a little and cook?... ?.. would it work?.. would it be worth the hassle or would the cheese just stick and burn everywhere?....

It will probably work Steve, as long as you do not put too much cheese in. Otherwise it will melt and ooze out, frying paratha quite difficult. Paneer Paratha are made with cheese too. though it is more like cottage/ricotta cheese.

I am sure Marmite will be okay, people add it to hot water to make a drink after all! Give it a try.

I have a recipe inventing side branch of mamtaskitchen now ;-)! LOL!

Hey Asky - i put my ham and cheese rolled parathas in a flat toasted sandwich maker and they are delicious. Not for too long though.

Hi Mamta - if you put the vegemite and cheese paratha rolls on your recipe list please would you call it Charlies cheese and vegemite paratha rolls? He'd be so happy! And he can tell his teachers who always laugh because he doesnt have normal white bread for lunch.

Cheers

You would think the teachers should be encouraging him for eating different foods and using it as examples for the other children to try new and varied food... rather than laughing at him !.. Next week lets all try and bring something different in etc etc... not look at Charlie having that ! (might I add whitebread tends to be frowned on by the foody World so it should be seen as a good thing he isn't having it !)

Hello Steve

How about making Charlie some Aloo Paratha, or stuffed parathas with any left over vegetable bhaji/mince etc.? I have so many paratha recipes here;

Aloo Paratha

Egg stuffed Paratha

Aloo Paratha

Or one of the sweet parathas will be nice.

We make parathas from hundreds of fillings. If you make the Ham one, get Charlie to write the recipe down and take a few pcitures of the process, with him making it. :-)
