Last year I made pickled onions. Some were sweet. Some were hottish. Some were very hot,leaving the pickling spices in with the onions but adding dried Naga chillies and leaving for 3 months. This year I'm going to do onions pickled in balsamic vinegar as well.
What I'm looking for is a pickled onion recipe, but distinctly Indian in origin.
I'm looking for a picallili type pickled onion. Could there be a Madras pickled onion. a Korma flavoured pickled onion. Could they be in vinegar, or pickled & kept in raita? I'm also looking for a recipe that gives pickled onions in a syrup of some kind.
Any ideas?

Hello Martin
These two I make often;
Pickled onions restaurant style
This south Indian style Onion Bhaji is very like a sweet?ish pickle.
I am sure that this Garlic Pickle can be made with shallots or whole, small onions or even sliced onions.
Not sure what you mean by Korma flavoured pickle! This one is worth a look, though I have never seen or made it; http://showmethecurry.com/pickles-chutneys/pickled-onions.html
This one looks like a sweet and sour onion Chutney from the south;
