Ma, do you have/ can you source any recipes for peshwari naan stuffed with sweet halva type filling?

I am sure you can fill halwa in it, like semolina and carrot halwa, if you make the halwa a but stiff, so you can roll it out without it bursting. Tell me more, what you are aiming at?

Peshawari nan i find to be too sweet with curries, but kids love it. and P.nan with halwa filling would be sweet dish for me after dinner ;)

There's a restau in London called tayyabs that does a suji peshwari naan which is just amazing, ma! Friend wants to recreate it!

Coincidence Kavey, I was just thinking of going there tomorrow! However I normally end up being loyal to the Lahore Kebab House in Umberston Street.

Well thank you, anon! Do leave your name next time so we know who you are!

Winton, I don't really get that way often, so have only been twice but did love the peshwari at Tayyabs - very diff to the normal with rains, coconut etc inside. This halwa filling is just fabulous!

More recently, my favourite Indians:

Delhi Grill in Chapel Market, Angel - a lot of the dishes are VERY much like mum's - good, home-style cooking, well priced, casual but lovely interior, lovely staff

Dishoom - between Covent Garden and Leicester Square - styled on a Bombay Cafe (which were themselves styled on European cafes) and serving Indian food, some in snack size portions, I can particularly recommend their grilled paneer, their sheekh kebabs, their keema pau (keema on muffin-like toasts) and their house black daal.

Quilon - upmarket Indian from Malabar Coast, best deal is weekday lunch visit.

All three reviewed on Kavey Eats during last couple of months and have made return visits to first two already.

Thanks Kavey, I'll have to refresh my memory on Kavey Eats. It's good to have some MK/KE approved eateries for when I stray out of Tower Hamlets!

Kav, you have to ask your friend to take a picture of the whole naan and one of its inside. If you remind me, I will give it a try one day.

Yes I was thinking on the same lines...why not post a picture of it here.

Why not?

Mainly because I haven't got one and the restaurant is not local to me, I have only been twice because it's not a convenient location at all for me!

May be months before I have a photo!

:)

Looking at the recipe, it could be a filling made of Mawa/Khoya, see on this site, I can't do links from here. If someone reminds me, I will certainly give it a try when I return.

We went to a special Paratha place for dinner in Gurgaon last night. They are a branch of an original, few centuries old paratha maker from the famous Parathon waali gali (loosely translated as 'lane where parathas are made') in Old Delhi. I have picked a copy of his menu, which has a few sweet parathas in it, along with around 50-60 other types. Though I don't have recipes, I can try a few from description on it's menu.
