I've just realised how many recipes I make that there is really only me (and those on here for some of them) that know how I make them ! Not really a problem but just thought about it the other day how unless like Mamta has done with this site I make an effort to record them all, eventually my thoughts and ideas will be lost.

With that I've decided to try and start putting all my odd* recipes down including pictures to help show what I'm doing... this will be a long long process (not because there are so many, just because its time consuming to work out all the weights and measures, what you are doing exactly without thinking about it etc, so others can follow...)

No doubt when I get some sorted out I will be passing them on here as well.

You keep seeing people with grandma's old hand written recipe book, well in my house its going to be Grandads on CD... lol

  • when I say odd I mean all the odd things I do... you know like croutons.. its not an obvious "recipe" but my daughter loves them on spaghetti bolagnaise and in soup, even just eating handfulls of them!... . .As well as all the normal recipes I make, that I've mainly made up, tweaked and adjusted over the years..

Hi Steve

I understand exactly what u mean. When I started, I had to measure everything and write it down. It took for ever. You should open a site with your recipes for your family at least.

Hi Steve,

I also recognised how time consuming it is, to write down my own recipes. And sometimes I change my cooking/recipe little by little without realizing it.After my father complained that the Felafelrecipe on my website tastes completely different than the Felafel I always make,I started to cook my written recipes again. Sometimes I was really surprised how different the tast was. Now I have to adjust my recipes. What I really love about a site with all your recipes on it, is the fact that you always know where the recipe is written. You can?t loose it like a piece of paper.

I don't think I'm going to host the recipes on there own site as I can't imagine there being enough in the short term.... it could take me years to get around to making something with enough time to do all the extra work of measuring things out etc.

However I think I'm going to give them all a disk when I get a few together (I'm already being texted by daughters boyfriend for hints and recipes !)

Come to think of it, I did actually have a site with some of my recipes on but it was very hard to put recipes on (could have done with some sort of macro that just filled in the relevant boxes and made a new page, not me having to manually write out each new page from scratch...). but due to a server problem (ie the bloke hosting it no longer being contactable my site went....and I hope I backed it up to disk somewhere...)

Steve: I LOVE your Greek meatballs. Instead of grating a potato, I sometimes just use frozen grated hash browns here in the US and they work just as well.

Steve, you are always welcome to put them here on MK...

We could look into some option that allows people to search on author...

I'm sure I'll share any worth sharing... so far I've managed how to make croutons !... basic tomato sauce... and broccoli and stilton soup....

as I said ... I'm looking at all the things I make that are a bit different or not obvious to other people etc...

Thanks

Steve
