As things do, a thought just crossed my mind....

We see reports that for a long long time Britains favourite dish was "curry", so I thought exactly which curry ?

Then a second thought was I wonder what the most popular dish in India is ???

with so many different cultures in india ppl like dishes of their own culture. spicy diahes(vada pav,pani puri),south indian(dosa,uttappa),punjabi(parotha n bajari ki roti) , etc...

It is indeed a tall order to identify a single dish as the most popular meal in the subcontinent.

I would think if a single dish could be given such an accolade it would be biryani in its

multifarious manifestations.

I've seen several versions of biryani and some look fantastic, moist and tasty where others seem a little dry and not much more than steamed rice. I think part of its interest and passion, is about making it in the traditional way (pots sealed with pastry etc)..
