I am not sure where yoy can find it. If you have any other microwave steamer, you can make them in that. I get mine in India, where you can pick them for a couple of quids.

Wembley has a few South Indian restaurants, they may be able to tell you where you can buy one, though they cook it the traditional way.

Dear Paul,

I have done some rooting around but afraid come up against a brick wall too. However I don't like to be easily beaten so won't take off my (limited) thinking cap yet.

They do seem to have come up on ebay sometimes (if you are into that sort of thing) but in the meantime could you use microwave egg poachers with one of those microwave plastic hats that sits over plates? I realise it's not ideal as the idlies would be half size and you could only do a few at a time.

Best wishes, Winton

Winton is on to something here. I have know people who have made it in a microwave Dhokla steamer and then cut it like Dhoklas. They are still idlies, just a different shape.

Hello paulmac 172

I have been in touch of one of the online supplier of Indian groceries in UK. I have been told that they are planning to stock them soon. You can keep a watch on their website, link is available on each recipe on this site, look just below the ingredints.
