Mamta - im cooking this for dinner tonight (Saturday). I just have one question. When all the layers are done and you say in step 18 sprinkle the ONIONS on top you then go on to say in step 19 to dot with ghee and orange colouring to give the RICE grains a bit of colour interspersed in the rest of the rice to look good when served. Im confused as in step 18 the onions will be on top but in step 19 it reads that the rice will be on top?
Cheers
Steve
Hi Steve
If you look at the picture, it will become clear.
Last layer of rice is topped with a few fried onions as garnish, as in step 18. Then a few drops of ghee and a dark colour, like orange colour, are dotted along the top of the rice and onions. I have tried to make it clearer in step 9, but picture is self evident.
Hope your Biryani turns out nice.

Yep - worked it out. Didnt notice the pic but mine like exactly the same. It was very tasty but I dont think I'd make it again just for two people. There was just too much. I do prefer dishes with the meat and sauce as the main centre of attention with rice on the side. This was the other way around. Rice overload! It was fun to make.
Thanks again
Steve
You are right, this is a dish to make when you have more people than two. It freezes quite well too. I have always left-over after a party and freeze it for another day. If you want less rice, add more meat, as mentioned in the notes.
We are now starting to add pictures again, slowly. So if you make any of my recipes and can take good quality pictures, please do send them to me via the contact link.
