Sadly the legendary Keith Floyd died at his partners home in Dorset on Monday !
He wasn't everyones cup of tea (or glass of wine in his own case) but he was one of the founders of the modern TV Chef. Without the way Keith transformed the way cooking was seen on tv from being educational to being entertainment we might not have the massive tv following and all the celebrity chefs we have today.

Steve
It is sad news, I used to love watching him in old days. More time was spent watching and listening to him, he had his own inimmitable style, glugging wine down his throat and onto everything he cooked :-). He was such fun to watch, may God rest his soul in peace.
I wonder what happened to Galloping Gourmet, I also used to like watching him!

I watched the first half of the documentary on him last night, Keith Meets Keith. Not a fan of Allen as a presenter (though he's fab as an actor in Robin Hood) but watched to listen to Floyd.
Missed end as was feeling poorly, but was thinking about it this morning when I learned he passed away last night. Quite a shock.
I've been reading many, many tributes on the internet during the day - twitter foodies are posting links as they go live. In newspapers and blogs, it's clear he had such huge respect throughout the country.
I loved his completely irreverent style and his sheer joie de vivre.
RIP Mr Floyd.
I can't WAIT to get back to work tomorrow...
I have lots to do, lots of exciting projects on the go... so sitting at home is not fun. :(
I was very much saddened to hear about the death of Keith Floyd. He was a great personality and his infectious enthusiasm and obvious love of food and of the art of cooking has been an inspiration to me and I am sure, to many others.
In an age when the profession of "TV Chef" has become so debased by the obsession with presentation and flashy visuals, by childlike editing and spin-off merchandising, it is still a joy to watch old re-runs of Floyd. They prove that location filming with a single camera is all that you need when you have someone as passionate, knowledgeable, witty, skillful and intelligent as he was. And when he filmed on location he was obviously as eager to learn from the people he met as he was to share what he knew. And let's face it, humility isn't a quality you'd associate with many TV Chefs!
Keith - cheers!
