Hello Mamta,

I have read in this forum about the wedding menu or your trip to some wedding. Can you help me with suggestion ? In the sense, how many varieties etc.

How many varieties of dal or sookhi sabzi or gravy or sweets will be ideal for small functions like sangeet and sagai ? Also, how many will be ideal ones for the reception ?

Any suggestion will be helpful. We have planned the wedding for my daughter in Delhi. This is first wedding after my move to west.

Looking forward for your suggestion. Thanks

Hi Shraddha, Mamta is offline for few days, so please don't be offended if you don't get response for while. Check back in week or two and I'm sure she'll have some thoughts to share with you.

Shradhdha, this is a difficult question to answer for me, as I don't live in India. I do however visit regularly and know that weddings are usually quite lavish. You have to decide how many people you want to invite and how much money you want to spend. These days, most people arrange a wedding in a big hotel, who have menu suggestions for different prices, and for different numbers of people. You just have to look at these and choose. They are usually buffets and the prices are usually per plate.

Your family member/friends in India should be able to put you in touch with local caterers and wedding organisers.

Thanks Mamta, thanks for giving us the hint. Well, with your hint, we got in touch and organized. Yes, you are so right about the lavish Indian weddings. My younger daughter, also an financial analyst was quite shocked, when she saw the menu prices and choices. Once again, thanks for the guidance.
