Hi Mamta. Last week I ate an Indian dessert that was made with yoghurt and it had saffron, green cardamom powder and (I think) pistachio nuts in it. It was really nice, but I have no idea what it was. Any suggestions as to what it may have been? If so, do you have a recipe for it on site? I have been cooking Indian food for over 18 years now, but I have to confes that I know very little about Indian desserts. I have made your kulfi ice cream recipe (which turned out a real treat) and I used to make rice pudding with white basmati rice, gren cardamon powder and rose water. That's about as far as I have ventured with Indian desserts.

Kind regards, Sid.

The dessert you are looking for is SriKhand. I make another one with mango; Mango Srikhand. This dish is from Gujarat, Maharashtra regions of India and very cooling.

If you go to my search window and click on Indian and Dessert, you will get all the recipes on this site.

By the way, if you make any that doesn't yet have pictures, please take a few and send them to me via the contact link. I will post them here with your name as contributor.

Thanks, Mamta. That is what I was looking for. Unfortunately my camera got broken a few months ago and I haven't had the chance to buy a new one just yet, or I would have quite happily taken some pictures for you.

I made some mango shrikhand for tea tonight (to go with Italian meatballs) I forgot to take a pic, sorry........

I bought a kilo of minced lamb from my usual Persian butchers, with whom I get on extremely well. I asked for a kilo of mince, and the guy didn't even weigh it, and winked and asked for ?2. It is ?2:20 a kilo. When I weighed it, it was 1.32 kg, what nice people they are............

(it might have something to do with the fact I helped one of them with his American visa, and often chat about politics and the lack of medicines in Iran!)

That is nice to hear. In old type of shops, people got to know each other well. This doesn't happen in supermarkets generally :-(.
