Hi friends,
I tried to make idli in microwave 2-3 times.
but everytime idlis used to be flat from top & not so soft.
I cooked it at highest temp with 4 minutes.
can anybody suggest me what m i doing wrong so my idlis r not making so good & soft.
Thanks a lot.

they are probably being over cooked. Can't you steam them, like everybody else. 1 billion Indians can't be wrong.
I steam them sometimes in a microwave steamer like this one; www.perfectpeninsula.com/IdliSteamerMG12.html . They are not as good as when made traditionally, but ok, especially when you have less time.
Are you putting some water in the tray below, about 1/4 cup, to produce enough steam? Otherwise, they will dry out.
I cook them for 3 minutes usually and 1/2 minute more if needed. 4 minutes dries them too much I find. I have an 8 idli steamer.
