I have just found out I am allergic to dairy products but I just love tandoori chicken - is it necessary to use yoghurt or can you tell me the reason it is use?. I can do a BBQ type chicken dish but using tandoori spices but this has set me thinking about the use of the yoghurt. Maybe it is to tenderise the chicken - nowdays the chicken I buy is organcis and moist so no problem there.
Any answers to the yoghurt question?

Use lemon juice instead. You can also add a little tomato puree to make a paste.
