I thought I was alone with my obsession for Indian food, I cannot tell you how pleased I am to find this Forum!

I started cooking about 2 1/2 years ago and I?m well and truly hooked.

My local take a ways and restaurants were becoming more disappointing so I decided I had to do something about it. With the help of good books and video tutorials on u tube, I feel I have progressed very well.

Every weekend has become a new adventure into healthy, wonderful food and I`m now teaching my neighbors the basics!

It will take me a while to go through previous posts etc but I would imagine it will be time well spent.

I look forward to being part of this community and extending my knowledge base.

Regards from Geordie land!

Stevie,

Like many others, I've been doing Indian home cookery since the first Madhur Jaffrey book and tv series in the early-mid 80's.

Mamta's Kitchen is the greatest thing since Madhur Jaffrey, but it's even better: you can ask questions and get advice.

I've learned a lot here, and it's given my friends and family so much pleasure.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Are there any curry fans on the Forum living in or around Newcastle upon Tyne?

Ps I just made an awesome Balti, roasting and grinding the spices for the home made paste ;)

Stevie: re Newcastle, there used to be a fantastic Asian grocery shop in Fenham. When Leela's restaurant (Southern Indian: menu in English and Malayalam)was open on Grey Street, she used to order fresh curry leaves via that shop, and they always had some left over, which was fab for us. Is it still there? Might get some Geordie friends to bring us some stuff from there when they come to France.

Hi Stevie,

I too am a fan of home cooked asian food. Newcastle Upon Tyne? Not quite, just down the A1 in Harrogate!

Welcome to this fantastic forum!!

James.
