Hi Mamta - hope you are well :)

I had a rather excellent curry in Birmingham on Friday night.

It was called Hara Bhara Gosht.

It was basically minced lamb, spices and spinach. Even my hubby enjoyed it and he avoids green veggies like the plague.

I googled this and it appears to be a take on Hara Bhara kebabs - so called as they are named after the green colour the spinach given it.

Have you heard of this dish and would you have suggestions on how to cook it.

I am going to try making it anyways but would appreciate your input.

thanks,

Fiona x

Hara bhara is a term often used to describe a green field, a green crop; hara-bhara, full of greenery. This restaurant you went to, perhaps decided to call their 'spinach lamb' as hara bhara gosht, lamb full of green. You often hear another term hariyali used to describe dishes that are green. It is just another way to describe greenery.

I do have a couple of recipes for lamb Saag and mince sag.

If you want it to taste like a restaurant curry, you will need to add more oil than I give and extra spices.

Let us know how yours comes out.
