Happy New Year to Mamta and her extended family, today i have invited some relatives for dinner and I am cooking my favourite Srilankan chicken curry and chana dal with potato pickle.

Chana Dal and Potato pickle is a new one on me. How do you make it and how do you make the potato pickle Rajneesh?

Hello Mamta,

Chana dal and potato pickle are seperate items. Chana dal is your recipe while potato pickle is simple to make (but unlike normal pickles we cannot store it for more than 3/4 days in the refrigerator), just click this link :

Cheers.

This is so interesting Rajneesh. I have this picture on my recipe Train Wale Aloo I wonder how that happened!! It is obviously not the correct piocture for the recipe, though it looks much like it, plus the green chillies.

I will ask Pete to delete it from there as soon as he is feeling better.

Hi Mamta,

I did send you this picture taken by me with the recipe earlier last year, but you decided not to publish the recipe. It seems the picture somehow landed in Train waale aaluu.......ha ha.

What makes this recipe different from train waale aluu is the use of fenugreek seeds and ground roasted sesame seeds which gives it a unique flavour, and yes turmeric powder certainly is used.

Cheers!!!

Oops! Sorry about the mix up. I don't usually loose the recipes and I label pictures as soon as I receive them, not sure what happened here! If you are still interested, please send it to me again. I will make sure that it goes on, with the correct picture this time.

A very Happy New Year to all too.

Special congratulations to SteveAus - when is the expected date of arrivals?

Not a culinary matter but my advice is not to have a Swine Flu jab. I had one and was totally laid up in bed for several days!

Best wishes, Winton

Sure Mamta why not, I will send you the recipe again and I will be very pleased to see the recipe published in your wonderful site.

Thanks.

Winton, my husband and I had a flu jab and the only problem we had was a slight ache at the injection site for a few days. Most people are fine after the jab.

Thanks Mamta - I think the problem was the nurse was over zealous in giving me a flu jab, a swine flu jab and cholera injection all at the same time!

Oh dear Winton, poor you! Why were you having a cholera jab? It is not generally advised anymore, unless you are going to a heavy cholera outbreak area.

Hello all

Out of all the messages I received for New year this year, the one below is the best, you might like to read through;

"HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010.....!

You cannot extend your life but you can control its breadth, depth and height.

Same way, you cannot keep holding to New Year but you can keep enjoying every beautiful moment they come to you.

I wish you Wisdom to choose priorities... for those things that really matter in life.
