I was trying to make gulab jamun using the recipe 1. After i removed the chasni from the stove top, it became solidified. Any suggestion will be helpful

Since i am novice to cooking, will you mind telling me, how much time it will take for that measurement (3 cups sugar and 4 cups water) to get one tar syrup

Difficult to say, it depends on the heat it is boilng on. What you do is that you keep testing it every few minutes, once it starts boiling. You will get the hang of it quickly. Once it has reached the stage you want it to be, 1 or 2 or 3 wire consistency, you turn the heat off to stop it cooking further. If it is 2-3 wire thick, it will set.
