Isn't Gatte ki sabzi or Gatta curry a rajasthani dish ? Your site says it is a bengali dish and i have seen many many recipes for gatta curry none of them uses onions fir making gattas. Can you please clarify this
Thanks.
Hello Sunita
Well spotted; it is indeed a Rajasthani dish. The word Bengal in 'key-words' is an error, the word is incomplete. It should read Bengal-Gram-Flour (besan), not just Bengal. The words 'Bengal' and 'Gram' had somehow got separated. I have now corrected it. I have also edited the recipe a little, to make it clearer. Unfortunately, I have not taken pictures.
Traditional gatta recipe that my MIL and my SIL in Rajasthan use, does not have onions. These days, the trend is to try different methods, mix and match, alter many recipe, sometimes to very good effect, but not always. The one with onions is by my elder sister, who incidentally very rarely uses onions in anything!
