Dear Mamta

I have a recipe which calls for fresh 500g grated coconut. Can I substitute coconut cream and if so how much would I use? I think dessicated coconut would give a strange texture.

Many thanks

Depends on the recipe Black cat, is come places you can and in others you can't. I sometime soak dessicated coconut in a little hot milk and leave it to cool, than drain the milk off. This' freshen's up the dry coconut. Hope this helps.

As Mamta says it would depend on why its in there !

If for instance you were making a creamy curry with cream and grated coconut for the flavour then using a coconut cream would replace both quite well.

If however the grated coconut was for structure and texture (like in that well known chocolate bar) then cream wouldn't work.
