Hi Mamta...

Just wanted to say thanks for all your advice... dad's birthday meal went down a storm - the lamb vindaloo was a particular success, and I feel I've expanded my repertoire. I'm sure this is stating the obvious to you, but quite a different feel to cooking indian food - the balance of seasoning is often so much finer than European stuff, especially getting the sweet-sour thing...

All much fun! Thanks again

How lovely to hear about the success of your meal! Glad it went down well and you enjoyed it too.

I totally understand as I am not hugely experienced at cooking Indian food either and follow mum's recipes myself (with husband) and we get inordinately pleased with selves when they come out well!

:D

Its shocking how well Mamtas recipe come out (not that you would expect them to be bad, its just you don't realise how much better things can get).. you think you know what you are doing and then hey presto something even more fantastic appears from your oven.

Trouble is now you will find yourself (like the rest of us) digging through other recipes and seeing what other wonders are there.

( I discovered this site some years back when searching for something food related and have been hooked ever since)

Its not really a reference mearly an observation, they do come out way way above what you are expecting (and I was expecting something good to start with).

As for testing the new forum, yes that could be the word for it... lol
