Hi to all,
Has anybody tried corn fed chicken (which has got a yellowish colour), does the taste differ from normal chicken?
yes, tried it, and no, could not detect any difference.
What might be worth investigating is guinea fowl, what chicken used to taste like!
Just been watching the Saturday morning cookery programme and one of them mentioned his restaurants gets Italian eggs as they are fed off a diet of carrots which gives the yolks a deep yellow/orange colour !

To me an exclusive corn diet is simply not natural for chicken! It's like giving children so much orange juice they start to turn yellow.
Much better to get a free range chicken that has had a more varied diet. I have heard of people with wheat allergies that can't tolerate corn fed meat.
Thanks for your suggestions...i won't go for corn fed ones then.
if it is the gluten which is the problem for some people, I can't see why corn fed chicken is responsible, as it is supposed to be gluten free. Anyway, the protein would be broken down in the stomach/gut. The only effect on chickens from maize/corn feed is the colouration from carotenes.
Hi Lapis, on a normal varied diet every thing should work properly through the digestive system. But these corn-fed chicken are not. Chicken are natural scavengers to be given an active life routing around. I've only spoken to a few people who suggested they (or their children) can't tolerate corn-fed chicken.
We are agreed that there is no discernible in taste with corn-fed so have have suggested a proper free range chicken or guinea fowl are much better bets, but on any budget don't waste your money on them.
" but on any budget don't waste your money on them." i.e. Corn-fed!
Don't want that to be misinterpreted!

Yes I have heard about this kid who used to drink so much of orange juice that his colour changed to light orange.
Oh yeah....Sunny delight it was. Available few years back?.....it is still available, I saw it in ASDA recently!!!
