Hi folks,

I have made some splendid pork mince patties flavoured with Thai ingredients which I have frozen.

My question is, do I need to defrost the patties before grilling or can this be done from frozen?

Thanks!

James.

It is better if you de-frost them, to make sure that the meat is cooked through. Frozen takes longer to cook. You can cook them slowly from frozen, say at 180 C (170 in fan oven) for about 35-40 minutes.

Let's see what otheres think.

If you are going to cook them well (ie not leave them a bit pink in the middle) then from frozen would be ok... if not then defrosting would be the better route

Given the time I'd defrost them overnight in the 'fridge, then cook the next day straight from the 'fridge as I find things like patties, fish cakes, burgers etc. hold their shape better this way.
